5th Date Bolognese Sauce

So you have done all the hard work and you have secured your 5th date at your place. Overwhelming joy is drowned in the ultimate question of “What the f**k am I going to cook???”

It happens to everyone, don’t worry. The problem about making the choice is you are not sure if that person likes what you are able to cook. You want to impress but you don’t know if she/he will enjoy your Baked Bean Fountain with Toast. So what I have always done (all 6 5th dates I have gotten to have resulted in me cooking dinner. Stats are for life as well as sports) is cook a classic dinner with an impressive twist. Pick a dinner that most people eat  and make it different, make it fancier… just make it tastier.

This dinner doesn’t fail  in it’s job. It is a romantic pasta dish. Just bang out the candles, buy a bottle of red wine with a horse on the label and BOOM, you look like the fanciest man that ever courted a woman.

 

5th Date Bolognese Sauce

Ingredients

  • 600g Beef Mince
  • 600g Tomato Passata
  • 300ml Water
  • 100g Chorizo (Diced into Small pieces)
  • 1 heaped teaspoon Dried Basil
  • 1 heaped tablespoon Dried Oregano
  • 50g Grated Parmesan
  • 1 tablespoon Balsamic Vinegar

Sauce Base

  • 2 Garlic Cloves (Diced)
  • 2 Medium Onions (Diced into small cubes)
  • 2 Medium Carrots (Diced into small cubes)
  • 2 Celery Sticks (Diced into small cubes)

Directions

Dice the vegetables in the Sauce Base group
Step 2. Put some Oil into a large pan on a medium heat and add the diced garlic
Step 3. Then add the Carrots, Onions and Celerey
Step 4. Gently fry the vegetables for 10-15 minutes until the carrots are softened up

Once softened add the chorizo into the pan and turn the heat up to a medium/high
Step 6. After about 5-7 minutes of cooking add in the passata and the basil and oregano. Season the sauce with salt and pepper now too.
Step 7. After 2 minutes of cooking lower the heat down to medium and add in the mince and stir.
Step 8. Cover and cook the sauce for 10 minutes, stirring every now and again. Once it is cooked add in the parmesan and balsamic vinegar.
